PREPARE, PREVENT, AND ACT

Active shooting and active threat events are not generally random occurrences. Proactive identification of concerning behaviors and the implementation of effective mitigation strategies within the work environment can offer significant opportunities for prevention.

However, preparedness to act decisively and with intent in the event of an active threat is equally critical. The E.S.C.A.P.E. training program provides instruction in recognition, prevention, and mitigation techniques, alongside actionable steps designed to maximize survival during such incidents. This training will EMPOWER staff and students, employers and employees to take action, intent on o saving lives.

To ensure your success as a School Resource Officer (SRO), this training will provide you with essential knowledge of relevant tools, programs, and resources. You will gain a clear understanding of the expectations, roles, and responsibilities inherent in this position. This comprehensive overview will include a step-by-step guide to commencing your assignment, emphasizing the critical importance of school-based policing laws and operational procedures.

Additionally, we will address key topics such as fostering positive working relationships, the roles and recommendations outlined by the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) program, an introduction to Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), threat assessment protocols, an introduction to the Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines (CSTAG), emergency planning strategies, and response protocols for active shooter/active threat situations, among other pertinent subjects.

Conducting a thorough assessment is paramount to identifying specific safety needs and developing a targeted plan to address them. This process forms an integral component of any comprehensive, multi-layered safety strategy.
